Hollywood: Attractions (Part 1)
1 - The Film Frontiers: An Exhibition
Inside a large, Victorian theater, guests can travel through a room telling of British and European influence on the film industry. This is a tribute to the local area's movies. In fact, it even reveals how the French practically invented the film industry with the invention of Motion Pictures in the late 1800s.
2 - Lights, Camera, ACTION!
In another theater, guests can watch how special effects work in movies. They can see several old tactics, as well as newer tactics used for today's films.
3 - Revenge of the Mummy
(Height: 48")
Feel the wrath of Imhotep in this dark roller coaster, where things are not as they seem. This version of the ride is a lot like the Orlando one, even though it is slightly longer.
BACKSTORY:
Here in London is where Universal has began production on a sequel to 1999's The Mummy. Here, they will be using actual Egyptian relics borrowed from the British Museum.
However, as soon as the artifacts arrived on set, strange things have been happening. People have vanished, machinery has mysteriously failed, and now the cast and crew has come to believe that the place is cursed. In order to stay safe from the curse, rumored to belong to the real Imhotep (the titular Mummy), they have been given special medjai necklaces.
Yet not everyone believes the curse is real. One particular person, a crew member by the name of Reggie, has disappeared. It was said that he was going to give the director a medjai pendant, but he hasn't been seen since. As the guests, newly cast extras, go looking for him, they might discover the horrifying truth.....the curse is real!
QUEUE:
Located on the left side of the area is a large soundstage, which is designed to look like an Egyptian-style movie theater from the outside. Here is where it is advertising the movie being filmed inside, Revenge of the Mummy. Guests will go into the facade and onto the set. Here, guests see several props, costumes, and other film equipment, but the further they go in, the more they feel like they are in an Ancient Egyptian tomb. They see statues of Egyptian gods and several hieroglyphics, a lot of which spell out real warnings.
As they pass through the queue, guests will see televisions where interviews of the cast and crew play. A lot of them are expressing worry about the curse. However, Brendan Fraser, the lead actor for the film, does not believe in the curse. He sends his PA, Reggie, to give his medjai necklace to the director, also requesting a cup of coffee, and then he walks away. Shortly after passing these televisions, guests will see a notice that Reggie is missing.
From here, guests enter into a large chamber where guests board one of two trains. To make it feel more like a 1930's expedition, they are designed to look like mine carts from that era. Here, guests get on and pull the lap bar down.
RIDE EXPERIENCE:
Like the Orlando version of the ride, the cast members give them a thumbs up, and then dramatically turn their thumbs down. After this, the trains move through the set. They pass by several of the Egyptian artifacts borrowed for the movie before coming across two sarcophagi. The one on the left opens up and reveals Reggie, who is covered in wraps.
Reggie: "Are you insane? Get out of here! The curse is real! The whole place is a trap! He's after your souls! Find the Medjai! It's your only hope!"
Suddenly, the other sarcophagus opens and reveals Imhotep, who growls as he exits. He then holds out his hand and sucks out Reggie's soul, making blue light come out of a crack in the wraps.
Imhotep: Silence!
He then turns to the guests and takes control of their vehicle with his supernatural powers.
Imhotep: With your souls, I shall rule for all eternity.
After several echoes, they pass through glowing hieroglyphics and enter a room full of treasure. Imhotep's head appears up ahead between two torches.
Imhotep: Serve me and savor riches beyond measure.
The room lights up to reveal to treasure.
Imhotep: Resist and suffer a worse fate.
Mummy warriors spring up from the bottom and point their scimitars at the guests. The trains turn and exit through a tunnel. Imhotep tries to seal it, but they move through quickly and escape just in time. They then run into a wall depicting a mural. Suddenly, part of it breaks open and scarab beetles cover it.
The vehicles then move backwards through mist before landing on a turntable. As they move around, they see a giant, talking skull, which speaks to them in Imhotep's voice.
Imhotep: Not even the medjai can save you. Your end shall be my beginning!
Then, as it faces forward again, the trains speed up a hill, where they pass through the skull as Imhotep shouts: "Your souls are mine!" They then move around through the darkness, seeing projections of Imhotep, the skull, the Mummy warriors, and more.
Soon, they enter into an unload. There, a ride attendant is giving a safety spiel and.....PSYCH! The ride's not done yet. The glass breaks and reveals Imhotep, who sets the roof of the room on fire. The train then moves out and dips into a pool of lava (or so it looks like. It's really just special effects.) They then move through the darkness and encounter more projections. They then approach Imhotep, who holds his hands out. However, it turns to the right and passes under a medjai symbol.
Imhotep: NOOOO!
The train then stops in front of a TV, where Brendan Fraser is in another interview.
Brendan: Hey, welcome back, though I would've enjoyed this interview more if I have GOTTEN MY CUP OF COFFEE!!!
Suddenly, a cloaked figure passes in front of him and offers him a cup of coffee, which he takes. When the arm is revealed to be a mummified hand, Brendan screams as the video ends. After this, the trains return to the loading station.
POST-RIDE:
Guests walk out a secret passage into Treasures of Egypt, a gift shop. Here, guests find merchandise themed to the attraction, as well as photos taken of them during the ride, taken during the fake unload.
4 - WaterWorld
Near the soundstage for Revenge of the Mummy is another theater, where guests can watch a thrilling stunt show. Featuring epic chases, a plane crash, and lots of fire, this acclaimed show has its newest incarnation here.
