Hollywood: Attractions (Part 2)

5 - Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem
(Height: 40")
Get ready to take part in a new project by Gru, where you will be able to become one of his minions.

QUEUE:
Guests enter the main queue of the ride in a recreation of the neighborhood. From there, they snake their way through covered passages before going into Gru's house. They move through the hallways before entering his living room. Here is where a secret door to his lab opens up. Guests follow this into the pre-show room.

PRE-SHOW:
In a room is where guests approach a walkway above the doors. Next to it is a TV screen. Here, they wait to be briefed.

Soon enough, Gru will walk onto the walkway and greet them. He then explains why they are there. They are volunteers to become minions, something he needs because he is struggling to balance his evil schemes with his fatherhood over Margo, Edith, and Agnes. A video then plays with Dr. Nefario, explaining how they are going to turn the guests into minions. Then, Margo, Edith, and Agnes appear. They are about to give Gru something, but he has to leave to take care of business. When looking for someone else to train the new minions, the girls volunteer. Once he leaves, they reveal that it is their anniversary of their adoption and that they have a gift for him, but it will apparently have to wait.

The guests then walk into the theater, where they board one of many "missiles" and take a seat. From there, they will wait for their training to begin.

RIDE EXPERIENCE:
When the doors open, Margo, Edith, and Agnes fly out in a hovercraft. There, Dr. Nefario's machine fires at the guests, turning them into minions. This is revealed through a "mirror."

As soon as guests become minions, they begin training. They run through an obstacle course, dodging lasers, fly swatters, a cactus, and eventually, giant boxing gloves. However, the vehicles nearly fall into a pit and are saved by the minions. Here, the girls ask them to resist a banana. Unfortunately, the other minions are unable to resist, and so their bridge literally falls apart.

Things take a turn for the worse when the vehicles enter a restricted area. Here, explosions and missiles go off, and the gift is almost lost. Luckily, with help from Gru and the minions, they escape and land in a bunker. Here, Agnes reveals the gift to be a plush Gru, and although it is a little charred, Gru enjoys it. He then shows the girls an indoor amusement park he had built to celebrate their adoption.

After the vehicles land, Gru congratulates the guests on completing their training. He says how they will be minions, only for one minion to knock over the machine and turn the guests back into humans. Disappointed by this, Gru dismisses them and decides to move on to the next group.

POST-RIDE:
After exiting the ride area, guests go through a five-minute dance party. They then exit into Minion Mart, a gift shop.

6 - Villain-Con Minion Blast
This year's Villain-Con is being held in London, where the legendary Scarlet Overkill once lived. Here, guests will go in and see the villain world, and if they're lucky, they could get a chance to join the most nefarious supervillain group of all, the Vicious 6. This is based off a newer experience that has come to Orlando.

QUEUE:
In a futuristic-looking building is where guests see Villain-Con being advertised. Here, they go in and pass by posters for many supervillains from the Despicable Me and Minions films, such as Vector, El Macho, Balthazar Bratt, Scarlet Overkill, and of course, the Vicious 6 themselves. They then pass through several rooms advertising evil supplies, as well as a room showcasing the E-Liminator X blasters, which they will be using on the ride.

PRE-SHOW:
Soon, guests will enter a room where a screen is on display. Here, guests see the Vicious 6 come on, welcoming the guests to Villain-Con. The lineup includes Belle Bottom, Svengeance, Nun-Chuck, Jean Clawed, and Stronghold, and they're looking for someone to fill the sixth spot. They then explain the rules of the game. In groups, they shall go through rooms to test out their villainy. Whoever has the highest score will be the newest member of the group.

Guests then pick up their blasters on the way out of the room. They will then wait for a cast member to let them onto a moving sidewalk, which will take them throughout the ride.

RIDE EXPERIENCE:
As the guests move through the building, they are presented with seven rooms. The first room is a practice room. The next five rooms are themed to the members of the Vicious 6, while the final room is a chance to gain more points. Here, guests must shoot objects, minions, and other things in every room, displayed on screens. The more damage they cause, the more points they receive. There are two blaster buttons: a normal button that shoots normal lasers. If they get enough shoots, they can do a combo blast. However, there is also an elemental blaster that does more damage, but it is limited.

At the end of the ride, guests can see the leaderboards, which are displayed by group. Whoever scored the most points is officially crowned the sixth member of the Vicious 6.

POST-RIDE:
This attraction also exits into Minion Mart, which it shares with Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem.

  1. Fun! I’m not sure if I’ve done this before. I just remember a 3D ride or something.
